Soundless sounds

Presenting one of my favorite Bengali songs by Hemant Kumar. The quiet picture these words paint is just awesome and so is the singing and composition – a perfect frame for this word-picture! I love this song so much. A song about words, and about sounds, soundless sounds. For those who may not readily appreciate the beauty of the Bengali lyrics - my humble effort at the Hindi transformation. Those who understand Bengali – note this is an approximation; poetry is a dish always best served in the original language. Here goes ….

शबनमकी बूंदे झरनेकी आवाज़, पंछियोंके पर गिरनेकी आवाज़
कलीके फूलमे खिलनेकी आवाज़,
या तो बिछड़े हुए साथीको देख, चमक उठनेकी आवाज़
दे सकते हो ऐसी कोई आवाज़ें?

नींदके हलके पैरोंकी आवाज़, नि:स्तब्ध दुपहरमें एक अशोक वृक्षके छायाकी आवाज़
मन ही मन के सोचकी आवाज़, बीते हुए लम्होंको याददाश्तमें फिरसे पानेकी आवाज़
दीपकके जलनेकी आवाज़, वक़्तके चलनेकी आवाज़
श्यामकी लंबीसी परछाइयों के उतर आनेकी आवाज़
मोहब्बतमें डूबे हुए प्यारकी आवाज़

दे सकते हो ऐसी कोई आवाज़ें?
